Stormy Weather

The stormiest parts of our day revolved around learning, as usual. I think I'm still hung up on the "school at home" belief. I haven't been able to move beyond that into true creative homeschooling. I feel more comfortable with structure, and yet I have difficulty imposing a structure. And DD definitely has difficulty accepting that kind of structure. I usually concede with such poor grace that I sometimes wonder who the four-year-old is around here.

We have a friend who is so calm and radiant, really. She homeschools three of her four children, who range in age from 12 yrs to 4 mos. How does she do it and make it look so easy? Note to self: relax and enjoy the ride. We did get to spend some time with this family today, and K said it was the greatest house and she wished we could stay all day. Me too. But, like bad pennies, we'll always be back.

We were headed to check out a consignment sale when the hail hit. We decided to head home immediately. Great deals on summer clothes can't outweigh a dinged up car. Once the car was safely ensconced in the garage, we went in and made scones. Yes, scones! They were delicious! Later, we tried to pick up our nature diorama that we started yesterday, but 4 PM is not the best time to be crafty. When will I learn??? Anyway, we decided to change the theme slightly to the Hundred Acre Wood, so we traced pictures of Pooh, Piglet and all their friends for each of the different nature scenes. I'll post pictures if/when it turns out...
