Got Game

Today was marathon game day at our house. We haven't played that many board & card games in a good while. I think DD wanted a nice, relaxing day at home. I sussed that out after she GOT BACK IN BED this morning after breakfast. Yes, you read correctly. Now, she didn't go to sleep, but she lay in bed for several minutes, possibly 30. I don't recall exactly, because all that freedom rushed to my head, thereby depriving my brain of the oxygen required for critical functions. She stacked her books by the side of her bed so that she could put her water cup on it. She didn't want to have to get out of bed to get a drink.

After such an auspicious morning, things could only get better. Only a minor dose of reality, in the form of the need for a new roof (which costs almost as much as a Prius), could dampen our day. We played and read and practiced letters and even squeezed in a trip to a local consignment sale AND the library, where another Ruth Rendell story was waiting for me. Heaven.

I'm taking a page from Calm Friend's book and valiantly fighting the urge to run around all day like a chicken with its head cut off. Between that resolution and the new vitamins I'm taking, I expect to be ruling the world Oprah style in about 3 months...
