Leftover Sponge, or Adventures in Sourdough(ing?)

Who knew that creating a sourdough starter would eat 72 hours of my life and all subsequent recipes created from said starter would eat even more precious hours? And, I have to stir it once a week to keep it alive (shudder shudder). Laura Ingalls Wilder never mentioned anything like that in her books. Of course, she leaves various other topics unspoken as well, which is a post for another day. Perhaps.

Today, after we "churned" our sourdough, turned it into bread dough and fed the leftover sponge, we had enough time left in our day to work on folders (still going well), play dolls and spend $30 at Walmart during an unscheduled trip to pick up shaving cream for a craft.

We even visited an indoor play area today in spite of the snow. Of course, by the time we got out of the house, the snow had long since melted away. :( Good thing we played in it last night.
