So Many Books, So Little Time

We spent an afternoon with our field trip group making pretzels: pepperoni, cheese, cinnamon raisin and plain. I helped out in the kitchen by washing dishes (I know, saintly!) and I was rewarded with leftover pretzel dough. Jackpot! We'll be twisting, baking and freezing the rest. The group hired a chef who designs cooking programs like these for kids (and adults). She truly was a saint. There were probably 20 excited, interested kids in our session, but she was so organized (!) and calm (!!).

We've also started tracking the number of books we read in a month: a great idea we discovered here, courtesy of Sherry. I'm totally pumped. I've been keeping a list of our books, just for kicks, but now the game is afoot.

She also spontaneously made her bed this week. Sweet! To prolong this activity, I resorted to the time-honored practice of bribery, or, as I like to call it, commission. Each time she makes her bed without being asked, she earns 25 cents. She's made her bed every morning since. She's saving for a Tinkerbell remote control doll. Great.

We've also had a good week in terms of social activities. Seeing her play with her old friends and make new ones has really put the "socialization" bugaboo to rest. Now I can move onto the really important things. Like math. Maybe I'll just stick with socialization.
