Swimming with the Tadpoles

We spent a lovely afternoon at a local Nature Center. DD took a class on insects, which began with a brief talk about insects and their life cycle and culminated in a short hike on a hot day.

Here is the class representing the pupa stage:

Once we got into the woods, only a few of the kids complained of the heat; the rest were eagerly looking for bugs, caterpillars, moths, butterflies, poison ivy. The hike ended at the frog pond, where we saw snails and snail eggs:

We also saw lots of tadpoles, including bullfrog tadpoles. One of today's tasks is to review the life cycle of frogs to determine when we should return to the Nature Center to see how these frogs have grown.
