We visited The Hermitage in honor of Andrew Jackson's 243rd birthday. We watched a demonstration of a soldier's life circa 1812 (I think I would take hard tack over parched corn, aka animal feed). We toured the main home and did our best to stay off the 170-year-old tulip poplar hardwood floor.
Then we toured the grounds and the real fun began.
We gathered china eggs.

We picked cotton. She took a few seeds home to plant this spring. I wonder whether our neighborhood association would cotton to that. Ha ha ha haha ha. Ha. Ha. ha....

We used our compass to navigate our way around the property.

We discovered the spring under the spring house.

In spite of the cold, we had a wonderful day and we even got to meet Andrew Jackson VI. Pretty cool!
